Prayers to Demeter
9 prayers
Demeter is prayed to at the two ends of the grain: the sowing and the threshing floor. Callimachus' hymn stages a procession of the basket and tells, as a warning, the story of Erysichthon, who cut her grove and was given a hunger nothing could fill.
